Layers
One layer per vinyl color. Bottom layer first. How it works
Add your picture
Logos, clip art and drawings with flat colors give the cleanest result. A PNG with a transparent background is ideal.
Pick what you’re making
Layered vinyl splits the picture into one layer per color. One color makes a single cut file. Adjust colors and clean-up until the preview looks right.
Download and cut
The SVG carries its real size in inches or millimetres, and each layer keeps its color.
In Cricut Design Space
- Click Upload, then Upload Image, and choose the SVG.
- Select it and click Add to Canvas.
- Each color goes on its own mat, so every layer cuts from its own vinyl.
In laser software
- Use One color, then pick Outlines only for cutting or Filled shapes for engraving.
- Import the SVG into LightBurn, xTool Creative Space or your laser’s own app.
- Set the layer to Line to cut along the edges, or Fill to engrave the shapes.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. No sign-up and no watermark.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs on your own device inside this page, so your picture never leaves your browser.
Which pictures work best?
Logos, clip art, cartoons, hand lettering and drawings with flat colors and clear edges. For a photo with a busy background, cut out the subject with AI first.
Stacked or cutout?
Stacked makes the bottom layer a full silhouette and puts the other colors on top, which hides small alignment gaps. Cutout makes pieces that fit together like a puzzle, which uses less vinyl and keeps thick layers flat.
Why remove the background?
Without it, the cutter would cut a rectangle around your design. “Also inside shapes” removes the background color that shows through letters like O and A, so those become holes.
How does the AI cut-out work?
It uses EfficientSAM, a small image model that runs inside your browser. The model downloads once, the first time you use it (about 25 MB), then you tap what to keep and what to remove. Your photo still never leaves your device.
Does it work with Silhouette Studio?
Silhouette Studio opens SVG files in Designer Edition and above. The basic edition can’t open SVG.
Can I convert any picture?
Only convert images you made or have permission to use, especially if you sell what you make.
