Layers
One layer per vinyl color. Bottom layer first. How to get a picture into your 3D model
Upload a bold picture
Logos, silhouettes, icons and lettering print best. One color is already selected, so you get one solid shape.
Set the size in millimetres
Type the width the part should have. Keep Filled shapes: slicers and CAD apps need filled areas, not outlines.
Import and extrude
Bring the SVG into your app and give it a height, for example 2 to 3 mm for a keychain.
Why this SVG imports cleanly
- No background box. A picture’s background often imports as a solid rectangle. Here it’s removed before tracing.
- Closed, filled shapes. Open lines and strokes are a common reason SVGs fail to import or come in empty.
- Real size. The file carries its width in millimetres. If your app ignores it, scale the part there.
Tinkercad and Fusion 360
- Tinkercad: click Import, choose the SVG, then set the height. Make it a Hole to engrave it into another shape.
- Fusion 360: Insert, then Insert SVG onto a sketch plane, then Extrude the shapes.
PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer
- To print the shape on its own, import the SVG and set its height.
- To put it on a model in PrusaSlicer, right-click the model and choose Add part, then SVG. Pick Join to raise it or Cut to engrave it.
Questions
How thin can details be?
With a standard 0.4 mm nozzle, parts thinner than about 1 mm may not print cleanly. Raise Remove tiny pieces and Smooth edges, or make the design bigger.
Can I print several colors?
Switch to Layered vinyl and download each layer with its This layer button. Each file shares the same frame, so the layers line up when placed at the same position. How a program imports multi-color SVGs differs between programs and versions.
Can I make a lithophane or a 3D relief from a photo?
Not here. This tool makes flat shapes you extrude to one height. Lithophanes need a height map tool.
Is it free?
Yes. No sign-up and no watermark.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs on your own device inside this page, so your picture never leaves your browser.
Can I convert any picture?
Only convert images you made or have permission to use, especially if you sell what you make.
